Ethirothrips antennalis (Bagnall, 1921)
This species is endemic to Japan and has been recorded from Honshu and Kyushu. It is probably widely distributed in the temperate zone south of Honshu. It is usually obtained from the dead stems of bamboo species such as Pleioblastus chino and P. Simonii. This species can be distinguished from congeners by the slight protrusion of the head in front of the compound eyes and the sub-basal bulge of the antennal segment III. Known only from macropterae. Fungus-feeder.
